Stress fractures<\/em> are small cracks\/breaks which can occur in any bone of the foot, though the most common is the metatarsal bone. They are relatively small breaks and are often caused by repetitive stress on a particular area of the foot. They can cause significant pain for the patient.<\/p>\n

Typically a stress fracture occurs due to overuse or a repetitive activity and they can be common in runners or those who participate in sports which involve a lot of running.<\/p>\n
